In Quito, the plane fell near the U.S. Embassy

At least seven people died in the destruction of a small military aircraft, which fell on a building in the capital of Ecuador, Quito.

Among the dead, according to officials, three soldiers and two civilians who were aboard the aircraft as well as two people on earth.

Defense Minister reported that the aircraft Beechcraft made training flight.

According to emergency services at the scene of an accident, a plane crashed into a building in a prestigious residential area in the north of the capital.

Not far from the crash location is a hotel and residence of the United States Ambassador Heather Hodges. According to the U.S. embassy, it is not affected.

Fog

One report states that the aircraft was intended to carry out landing at Quito airport in reduced visibility due to fog.

Associated Press refers to witnesses Eric Samson, who reported that at the time of the accident the area was coated with thick fog.

Samson saw the plane hit the end of four-storey building. Shortly thereafter, he said, inside the building heard explosions.

Agency quoted a local resident Camille Avsert.

I was scared. I have heard that the plane was flying very low, then I heard the explosion. We ran for the the street and saw that the building started the fire, – she told the correspondent of the Associated Press.

The collapse happened at 5:30 pm local time.

According to the Reuters, the capital of Ecuador, fog is often a cause of flight delays and other problems for aircraft. Over the past twenty years, several planes were dashed in the mountainous area near the capital's airport.

In September last year, passenger aircraft, on board which was more than 60 people, slip runway, beat the airport fence and stopped at the busy car route to Quito. And no one seriously hurt.
