Georgia and South Ossetia opens hotline
On Thursday, the first meeting of the Mechanism for the prevention of incidents between the Georgian and yugoosetinskoy parties with representatives of the Russian Federation, the OSCE and the EU. Agreement on such meetings had been achieved during the last round of Geneva talks.
According to Civil Georgia, a meeting was held in a specially established tent near the village of Ergneti between the Georgian and yugoosetinskim roadblocks. Head of Analytical department of MIA of Georgia Shota Utiashvili told reporters after the meeting that the parties could not reach any agreement on specific matters.
We have agreed that this mechanism requires that the next meeting, presumably, will be held in early May, – said S. Utiashvili journalists Ergneti. The date has not yet been agreed.
Deputy Chief of Staff of Land Forces of Russia Sergei Antonov, said that the parties have agreed to open a round-the-clock hotline. The opening of such a hot line to establish contacts between the parties also agreed at the Geneva meeting.
Later Sh Utiashvili said Civil. Ge , that the Georgian side is ready for the opening of a hotline, and has already allocated a field officer of the Shida Kartli Police Department for this purpose. According to him, now from yugoosetinskoy parties are awaiting a similar step. According to S. Utiashvili, the very fact that the meeting took place, is already a positive development.
