Somali pirates threateningto life imprisonment in the United States
Charges on the ten items, including piracy and hostage-taking, brought the Somalis, who took over on April 8, the American container Maersk Alabama off the coast of Somalia. That was reported by the BBC.

The team soon, however, managed to re-take the ship under control. Robert Phillips himself suggested pirates to take him hostage in exchange for the release of the ship and 19 crew members. Pirates and R. Phillips left the ship on a lifeboat, which left without fuel, they were adrift for several days in the Indian Ocean. April 12, R. Phillips was able to free themselves from captivity, and to get there by swimming to the U.S. military seamen.
