CAF grants Bolivia credit of 44 million for water and sanitation plans

The credit agreement was signed by the president of CAF, Enrique Garcia the boliviano, with ministers planning, NoelAguirre and Water, Rene Orellana, at Government enpresencia and the head of state of Bolivia, Evo Morales. Garcia explainedthat resources are used in the development and execution of plans in drinking water, basic sanitation, and irrigation drenajeurbano to improve the lives of 1.5 million lower-income people in cities El Alto, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz. El Alto will be built in a treatment plant residuosliquidos, while in Cochabamba funds are invested in the project of Misicuni, that is to extend coverage delservicio water, and in Santa Cruz in sanitation and drenajeurbano. Islamic attacks leave 55 dead in Nigeria

The problems began on Sunday when militiamen attacked a police station in Bauchi in northern Nigeria, causing dozens of deaths in clashes with police. On Monday, the militia fired a new wave of attacks in the towns of Maiduguri, Damaturu and Wudil in northern states, predominantly Muslim, said police and villagers. The head of the national police, Ogbonnaya Onovo , said there were 55 deaths: about 50 militiamen and five policemen. Nigeria has taken drastic measures to prevent sectarian violence from which 12 of the 36 Nigerian states began adopting in 1999 Islamic law or Sharia in the north, the Muslim majority. Very little is known about the most recent incident of violence, however. Northern residents refer to the Islamists as Boko Haram which means Western education is sin in the Hausa dialect. (more…)

Iran is major threat to the world: Israeli foreign minister

During his first visit to Peru, part of a tour of Latin America in which he said that nations like Brazil and Iran may mediate in the peace process in the Middle East, Foreign Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman insisted that the world must unite to avoid consequences. We believe that the situation with Iran is really the biggest threat not only to Israel but to the entire world, said the minister. We believe that the Iranians must stop, he said to journalists in the Peruvian capital. If the scheme comes to nuclear power is a threat to the whole world, he said. Lieberman complete its journey through Latin America in Colombia, after having visited Peru, Brazil and Argentina, a region in which he said that Israel is seeking to be more active.

In Brazil, the largest economy in the region, Lieberman noted the good relationship between the government of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to Arab countries as an advantage so you can convince the Iranians to halt its nuclear program and the Palestinians to talk directly with Israel.

Israel has a dispute with the Palestinians by the occupation of territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem and now the peace talks are frozen by the Jewish settlements. (more…)

Spain will not return to the level of GDP in 2007 to 2012, reported in the country's Ministry of Finance

Spain returns to the level of GDP in 2007, at least until 2012 and did not show quarterly growth until mid-next year. This stated the Minister of Finance, Elena Salgado, in an interview with the newspaper Publico.

As the K2Kapital , unemployment in the Mediterranean region can be maintained at a level above 4 million before the end of the year. In all likelihood, by the end of 2009 this figure will grow to no more than 5 million people. Nigeria clashes leave over 50 dead

Bauchi, Nigeria (Reuters) – More than 50 Nigerians were killed Sunday in clashes between security forces and militants in the northeastern town of Bauchi, told residents and hospital sources. Combat began early on Sunday when about 70 militants armed with explosives and weapons, attacked a local police station in retaliation for the arrest of their leaders. The police and soldiers repelled the attack and then conducted raids on neighborhoods to arrest those responsible. Hospital sources and residents said that more than 50 people died in the clashes. A Reuters reporter counted 32 bodies at two police stations in Bauchi, said that dozens were injured between more than 200 detainees. The official death toll was 39 from the Government, including a soldier. We're ahead of the militants. Otherwise the situation would have been bad, he told journalists the state governor Bauchi, Isa Yuguda. I'm calling all the people of Bauchi to remain calm and rest assured that the situation is under control, he added. CURFEW The governor imposed a night curfew in Bauchi for the next few days to calm tensions. Was an increased police presence in some neighborhoods, but businesses remained open and people swarm the streets freely prior to curfew. The police spokesman Mohammed Barau said the militants belonged to Boko Haram, a local group that wants to impose Sharia (Islamic law) in Nigeria. (more…)
